Mi top 15 de canciones de Taylor Swift

Para nadie es un secreto que soy fan de Taylor Swift. La fanática que llevo dentro se ha visto exacerbada gracias a haber visto City of Lover, un concierto que dio Taylor en L’Olympia, en París, en honor a su álbum Lover. ¡Gracias HULU, HBO y DISNEY + por hacerlo público!

¿Cómo no apreciar a alguien perseverante y talentoso? Taylor es, en mi opinión, la personificación de valores que admiro: el salir adelante, el luchar por tus sueños, el ser espontáneo y divertido, el saber levantarse con clase luego de una caída, el ser atractivo, el ser vulnerable y auténtico.

Podría hablar sobre TayTay todo el día, pero hoy me centraré solo en mi top 15 de canciones compuestas por ella.

Debo confesar que en algunos casos se me hizo muy complejo escoger 15 favoritas. Aún sufro por dejar de lado Today was a Fairytale, Mine, Ronan, The Moment I Knew, Fifteen, Best Day, Love Story y I Knew You Were Trouble. Ya saben que entrarían si fuera un top 23 (como mi cumpleaños), pero… como en la vida hay que aprender a hacer sacrificios, aquí les va mi top 15 de canciones de Taylor Swift.

15. Mean

Habiendo sido víctima de bullying, esta canción es una dulce venganza. Taylor Swift la escribió por un crítico que era muy cruel con ella y la hacía sentir muy mal, diciendo que no sabía cantar. ¿Lo mejor? Mean ganó dos Grammys: Mejor Canción Country y Mejor Performance de un Solo Country. ¿Que Taylor Swift no sabe cantar? ¡Toma, crítico malagente!

14. Back To December

La única canción en la que Taylor le pide disculpas a un ex por haberlo dejado.
El pobre Taylor Lautner la acompañó en un momento complicado para ella: los MTV Video Music Awards de 2009 en los que ganó video del año por You belong with me y Kanye West interrumpió su discurso de premiación para decir que el premio se lo merecía Beyoncé con Single Ladies. Fue un golpe muy duro a su autoestima que, según ella misma afirmó en su documental Miss Americana, afectó su percepción de sí misma y, digo yo, igual la llevó a tomar decisiones precipitadas de las que luego se arrepintió (como terminar con un hombre lobo con cuerpo de Semidiós: Taylor Lautner).

Taylor nos cuenta una historia de nuevo. El video va de la mano: parece una película de amor adolescente. Es fresco, inocente, ingenuo y Taylor es la buena y la mala del cuento a la vez.

Este es el video que ganó mejor video en los MTV Video Music Awards en los que Taylor ganó por encima de Single Ladies de Beyoncé, para gran desagrado de Kanye West.

Taylor feliz, enamorada de un chico bueno: Joe Alwyn. Esta canción es una declaración de amor del bueno, amor de matrimonio e hijos. Recuerda a You are the one that I want de Grease. Amar a alguien al punto de decir que te casarías hasta con anillos de papel es otro nivel. Muestra un amor genuino, desinteresado. Un amor de oro, uno de verdad.

Esta canción tiene un ritmo súper pegajoso y una letra poderosa, ¡pero el video! ¿Quieres ver a Taylor como hombre? Si creías haberlo visto todo de ella, mira cómo te sorprendes al verla como hombre.

La desigualdad entre hombres y mujeres es aún una realidad. Un hombre y una mujer haciendo lo mismo son tratados completamente diferentes. ¿No me crees? Deja que te lo explique Taylor.

Junto a Perfect y Thinking Out Loud de Ed Sheeran, material para waltz de boda por donde la veas. Incluso tiene «something borrowed» y «something blue». Esta canción huele a que Taylor y Joe se casan… ¡Ay, qué bonito sería eso! Les van a salir hijos altos y rubitos.

Es un discazo Speak Now. Esta es la última canción del disco. En Long Live Taylor Swift nos cuenta sobre el momento en el que empieza a tener una fanaticada grande, en el que se da cuenta de que es famosa de verdad. Esta canción va hacia los fans y el trabajo arduo que tuvieron ella y su equipo para llegar a la fama.

Los mensajes ocultos. Taylor siendo ella misma mientras es invisible al mundo, pero no para el chico misterioso que queda con ella en el Dive bar del East Side de Manhattan. Taylor nos hace un guiño en el video cuando nos muestra, mientras baila bajo la lluvia en su mejor vestido (como nos decía en Fearless), un local llamado Joe’s Deli. Lo entendemos, Tay, Joe te hace verdaderamente feliz y está deli delicioso. ¿O es deli de delicate? ¡Jaja! De cualquier modo, a tus fans nos alegra el alma, de veritas de veritas.

Esta canción refleja el inicio de la relación de Taylor Swift con Joe Alwyn, complicada por los golpes que había llevado su reputación tras la ruptura con Calvin Harris, la salida a la luz de su autoría de una de sus canciones, el romance «getaway car» con Tom Hiddleston, el escándalo-llamada-difamación que le tendieron Kim Kardashian y Kanye West. ¡Buff! Too much.

La canción que representa el estado emocional actual de Taylor y su disco Lover. La estrofa a continuación emociona en especial debido al texto introductorio que Taylor escribe en su disco Red, en el que dice que se ha dado cuenta de que el amor no es rojo sino dorado y que un día escribirá sobre ese amor dorado, cuando lo encuentre. Parece que lo encontró. Y eso le da paz a mi alma.

Escogí a Taylor cantando en vivo en una presentación en el Museo de los Grammys porque es sublime. El video también vale la pena; en él, ella hace de una especie de Elizabeth TAYLOR, mientras que el hijo de Clint Eastwood hace de una especie de Richard Burton, que representa a Harry Styles.

Otra de sus canciones narrativas. En ella cuenta su historia con Tom Hiddleston (el actor que hace de Loki en Thor) y cómo su romance le sirvió de excusa para dejar a Calvin Harris, pero al final dejó de ser atractivo y, sin querer, terminó siendo un circo para la prensa. ¡A Taylor se le da tan bien inmortalizar romances en canciones!

Esta canción tiene un ritmo que te atrapa. La música, la letra y la trama fluyen muy bien.

2. Cornelia Street

Hay algo muy poderoso en la imagen de un romance tan fuerte que no serías capaz de volver al sitio donde empezó si se terminara. Taylor Swift tiene el talento de poder plasmar emociones y pensamientos. Te pinta situaciones y mundos posibles. Te mete en su mente, te muestra sus monstruos. Te asustas con ella, lloras con ella. Wow, Taylor, simplemente wow.

De esta canción hay dos teorías: o es sobre Joe Alwyn, o es sobre Karlie Kloss. La segunda opción me cuadra debido a la teoría de Sebas G Mouret, youtuber, de que si en Cornelia Street está esa propiedad que alquiló Taylor en New York y Joe Alwyn es londinense, ¿cómo es que Taylor «gets mystified by
how this city screams (his?) name». Ahí hay gato encerrado.

1. All Too Well

Ya lo sé, hay dos videos en esta canción: la canción original y Taylor cantándola en vivo 7 años después. Curiosamente Taylor dice que sus fans siempre ponen esta canción como número 1 en los rankings. Yo también. Ciertamente no lo hice a propósito. Es mi favorita, sin duda. Me encanta oírla, cantarla, tocarla. Tiene mucho sentimiento.

All Too Well plasma la relación de Taylor Swift con Jake Gyllenhaal. Narra las emociones y recuerdos que Taylor tenía en mente cuando escribía en su diario, justo luego de haber terminado. Se sentó a desahogarse y ahí nació la canción. La letra era al menos tres veces más larga. Tuvo que quitar la mayor parte para que quedara una canción de cinco minutos y medio. Sí. CINCO MINUTOS Y MEDIO.

La música, la letra, la forma de cantar te hacen revivir un amor roto. Se percibe el dolor desgarrador, la nostalgia del amor que ya no puede ser. La tragedia.

Hay tal cantidad de detalles que es compresible que a Jake aún le cueste hablar de su relación con Taylor. No debe ser nada fácil perder a Taylor Swift y que, para rematar, esa diosa te escriba una canción con los mejores y peores momentos de tu relación. Yo me habría quedado lista para ir a terapia.
